CRITIC REVIEW:

"These are live recordings from 1956-1966 featuring a great pianist little remembered today, Monique de la Brucholleire. Born in Paris to a family of musicians (including Boildieu and Messager among her ancestors), she graduated with the Premier Prix from the Paris Conservatory and a few years later became the first French winner of the Chopin Competition in Warsaw. She played under the greatest conductors, such as Celibidache, Jochum and Karajan, but in 1966 a tragic car accident incapacitated her left hand, followed by another accident six years later that ended her life. Because she did not like rigid ideas and favored the creativity of the moment, she was always reticent about making recordings, making these documents all the more precious."
