CRITIC REVIEW: “The recordings of Josef Hofmann reflect the playing of another era. Hofmann made his adult début playing Rubinstein’s Forth Concerto with the composer on the rostrum in 1894. His first commercial discs date from 1903 (Berlin G & Ts); from 1913 to 1918 he recorded for Columbia, then moved to Brunswick, and it is from this period that the present recordings come.”
