“Koloman von Pataky (Kálmán Pataky) was a Hungarian tenor who made his début in Budapest as the Duke of Mantua. In 1926 he went to Vienna and worked among others at the premiere of DIE ÄGYPTISCHE HELENA by Richard Strauss, 6 June, 1928, Dresden. His focus was in Italian and French repertoire, but he made a name for himself as a Mozart singer and today is remembered as one of the most notable Mozartean tenors of the 20th century. In 1939 he sang Hüon in OBERON at La Scala under Tullio Serafin. After a leg amputation, he had to end his career in the 1940's.”
