CRITIC REVIEW:

“Reynaldo Hahn, who had just been appointed director of the Paris Opera, immediately engaged Jourfier. She made her début at the Palais Garnier on 10 August, 1945 in the role of Pamina in a revival of Zauberflöte conducted by Reynaldo Hahn. Her partners were Mado Robin, Georges Jouatte, Paul Cabanel, Henry Médus, Louis Noguéra and Charles Cambon. In 1947, she undertook the role of Juliette in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, then L’Amour in the première at the Palais Garnier of Les Indes Galantes by Jean-Philippe Rameau. On 9 November, 1945, in the role of Sophie in Werther, she made her début at the Opéra-Comique which became her theatre. In quick succession she sang Manon, Philine, Micaëla, Leila, Suzanne in Nozze, Rosina in Barbiere, Mimi in La Boheme. In her penultimate season, the director Raoul Gunsbourg invited her to sing Manon and Mimi at Monte-Carlo. In addition she was often invited to sing by the French Radio and by the great orchestras Colonne, Pasdeloup and Lamoureux.”
