CRITIC REVIEW

“This 2-CD set is a compilation of tenors who recorded for the Fonotipia label. Fonotipia recordings are eagerly sought after by collectors. The company was technically far superior to its counterparts and recorded voices, in particular, with an vibrancy and impact that will amaze the listener. The tenors represented are all artists who, during their careers, enjoyed a special cachet and, in many cases, sang in the great opera houses of the world.

The set contains many thrilling voices, covering elegant lyric singers to testosterone-fuelled heroic tenors of a type that is exceedingly rare today. Many of the records are of great rarity and are being presented on CD for the first time.”
