“Rudolf Hartmann made his début as an opera singer at the Municipal Theatre of Bamberg in 1928. He became a senior director of the Berlin State Opera where his collaboration with Clemens Krauss began, which brought him in 1937 as an opera director at the Munich State Opera where he remained until 1944. After the Second World War he was an opera director at Nuremberg Opera House. Then in 1952 he took over as director of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, a position he held until 1967.”
