"Massimo de Bernart studied piano, composition and conducting at the Conservatories of Venice, Florence, Turin, the Academy of Vienna and the Chigiana of Siena with masters such as Maria Tipo, Gino Gorini, GF Malipiero, Roberto Lupi, Hans Swarowsky and Franco Ferrara, of which he was an assistant for a long time. In 1967 he won the Viotti prize for composition, in 1978 the international V. Gui of conducting banned by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, in 1979 he was awarded the Schippers prize of Spoleto and also the Paisiello prize of Taranto and the L. Illica of Castelarquata.

He has conducted the major Italian orchestras inaugurating opera and symphonic seasons in theaters such as the Massimo in Palermo, La Fenice in Venice, the San Carlo in Naples, the Filarmonico in Verona, etc. He was founder and musical director of the Italian Youth Orchestra and the Tuscan Regional Orchestra; artistic director of the Olympic Theater of Vicenza, of the Verdi theaters of Pisa, and of Manzoni of Pistoia, first guest conductor and assistant of Maestro GA Gavazzeni at the A. Toscanini of Parma; councilor, artistic consultant and musical director of the Teatro dell'Opera Giocosa in Savona as well as founder of the Savona Symphony Orchestra.”
