Samuil Evgenievich Feinberg was a precocious composer and pianist….In 1922 he joined the faculty of the Moscow Conservatory where he spent most of his life teaching composition and piano. He was an expert composer in the late-romantic tradition of Scriabin, and in the second of his three piano concertos won a Stalin Prize when performed in Moscow in 1945 with Feinberg at the keyboard.
