“Born into a musical family in Moscow in 1990, Lukas Geniušas appeared with numerous orchestras including Kremerata Baltica, Hamburg Symphoniker, BBC Scottish Symphony and the Warsaw Philharmonic, with conductors such as Andrey Boreyko, Dmitry Sitkovetsky and Antoni Wit. His musical interests range from Baroque to works by modern composers and he gives regular solo recitals that reflect this diversity. His musicality was recognised at an early age. At 15, Geniušas was awarded a federal ‘Young Talents’ grant from the Russian Federation and two years later the ‘Gifted Youth of 21st Century’ grant. He has since received many accolades and awards in recognition of his prodigious talent. He studied piano with professor Vera Gornostayeva at the Moscow State Conservatory. Since 2004, he has received the Rostropovich Foundation scholarship. The young Russian-Lithuanian pianist Lukas Geniušas is considered to be one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. He was the recipient of the Silver Medal at the 2010 Chopin International Piano Competition and, in 2012, was awarded the German Piano Award.”

"While his peers are doing their best to charm everyone around, including the global music industry, Mr Geniušas has embarked on an altogether more serious mission: an agonizing search for a performance style that is fully modern and catching the spirit of the age.”
