CRITIC REVIEW:
“Janson studied singing at the Conservatoire of Montpellier and made his debut there as Vincent in Gounod’s MIREILLE. He had a successful career, primarily at the famous French provincial operatic stages, however, he also appeared abroad. Between 1935 and 1939 he appeared at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, also in Switzerland and at the opera theaters of North Africa. In the 1939-1940 season he was to be heard at the Paris Opéra-Comique. His repertoire included Gérald in LAKMÉ, De Grieux, Werther, Don José in CARMEN and Nadir in PÊCHEURS DE PERLES, and in Italian roles as well. At the beginning of the 1930s, when he appeared in Nancy as prince Sou-Chong in Lehár’s LAND DES LÄCHELNS, he had a sensational success and he repeated this part at numerous stages in France and Belgium. He also had a similar success as Octavio in Lehár’s GIUDITTA. He continued his career after the Second World War and retired from the stage in 1964, and then taught singing at the Conservatoire of Casablanca.”
