CRITIC REVIEW:
“Born in 1895, Madeleine Sibille made her debut at the Opéra-Comique as Mercédès in CARMEN on 11 January, 1920. She remained with the company for over twenty years, singing an astonishing wide range of mezzo and dramatic soprano roles, including Brangaene, Santuzza, Carmen, Tosca, Margared, Musetta, Nedda and Charlotte. Most of the many operas she helped to create have disappeared without trace, though she also sang in the world premiere of Milhaud’s LE PAUVRE MATELOT and the Paris premiere of Ravel’s L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES. She died 19 July, 1984”
