CRITIC REVIEW:
“Since Serkoyan’s father had been a cantor in the Armenian church, Gérard Serkoyan, a true basso cantante, had very early vocal training. After joining the Opéra Lyon in 1950, he appeared as Sarastro in ZAUBERFLÖTE, Rangoni in BORIS GODUNOV, and the King in LOHENGRIN. After singing with the Opéra de Strasbourg he joined l’Opéra in Paris in 1952 where his major roles were Sparafucile (RIGOLETTO), Daland (DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER), Ramfis (AÏDA), Pimen (BORIS GODUNOV), Méfistofelès (FAUST), Raimondo (LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR), and Hunding (DIE WALKÜRE).”
